What exactly is the point of all this? If this was a damnable heresy we were talking about there I might support this but since it's a NON ESSENTIAL issue than what's the big hairy deal? I don't agree with a lot of non essential doctrines that some people believe but I'm certainly not about to start some sort of mass uprising protest over them the way the author's of this site appear to be doing.
DISPENSATIONAL CONTROVERSY: Keneth L. Gentry,jr. Director, NiceneCouncil.
I have read your article in which you are very critical of Charles
Ryre's definition of dispensation. In the same article , you continued
to describe dispensationalists as innovative, naive, peculiar,
complicated, contradictory, and incoherent new converts. Please, let me
know your own definition and purpose of dispensation in scripture. Charles Otuoma Ndege Searchlight On Biblical Christianity, Kenya. Charles Otuoma > Kenneth L.Gentry, I am still waiting for your own definition of dispensation.
Charles Otuoma>Gentry: Further questions:1. Is'' God revealed'' the
same as ''God imposed''? 2.Is it true that distinguishing the
dispensations God's, or man's work? But how can the all knowing God be
supposed to distinguish? Is that not absurd? Is it not the work of man
to distinguish the work of God in his pursuit to know His purpose in
creation and redemption? Charles Otuoma>Gentry:
FURTHER QUESTIONS MR.GENTRY: Does the word distinguishable have negative
effect on number of dispensations? What is the qualitative significance
of distinguishableness of distinctions in different dispensations? Is
the thought rational? You make much ofRyrie's use of 'seven fold scheme'
of dispensations as being neither inspired nor non negotiable. What is
your point? Are deductions made from scripture by man inspired ? If not,
where is Ryrie's inconsistency? The word 'trinity' is a deduction drawn
from scripture. Are we being inconsistent to believe in it? The truths
that we discover as we study the scriptures, as necessary consequences
are never inspired, but non the less are truths. John testified that the
law was given by Moses, but grace and truth by Jesus. The dispensations
of law and grace are distinguished clearly without naming them
dispensations. Our conclusion that they are dispensations is never
inspired. Therefore, Charles Ryrie is never inconsistent with himself.
When apostle Paul stated that he no longer preached circumcision,
obviously he made a distinction between the dispensation of law and
grace of God given to him. (Galatians 5:11;Ephesians3:2).In making that
distinction, he never made any qualitative expression to distinguish
between circumcision and uncircumcisiom. Mr. Gentry, you are guilty of
making a caricature of Ryrie's views and going a head to to shoot.
